(www.PreserveMacForte.com) Hubble Telemedical has announced the roll out of what it calls a first-of-its kind service that can help to identify eye diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) sooner rather than later, according to a press release.
The company explained in the press release that its EyeQ Wellness Exam service is intended not only to facilitate early diagnosis, but also to assist with prevention of conditions that could cause seeing impairment.
As it turns out, the service uses Hubble’s TRIAD telehealth network for remote analysis of digital retinal images. The company explained in the press release that its service differs from other services in that the EyeQ Wellness Exam both screens for eye issues and also looks for symptoms of systemic ailments like cardiovascular disease that might be situated in the retina.
“Since all of the body’s vascular and immune systems are interconnected, it is often possible to detect signs of systemic disease processes such as atherosclerosis and hypertension in the retina,” stated Edward Chaum, M.D., Ph.D, co-founder and chief medical officer of Hubble Telemedical, in a statement included in the press release. “When present, these signs point to changes occurring throughout the body, such as cardiovascular disease, an increased risk of stroke, or even systemic infection. Our goal with the EyeQ Wellness Exam is to provide a powerful new screening service for those individuals who are interested in early disease detection, wellness, and prevention.”
According to the press release, the exam can find things that could be indicative of AMD, retinopathy, cardiovascular disease, central nervous system ailments, stroke risk, some kinds of cancers, systemic infections, aneurysms, diabetes and other sorts of eye conditions.
According to the press release, the company explained that, in some instances, the EyeQ Wellness Exam can detect the onset of ailments in the retina in their beginning phases. The earlier such ailments are detected, the more treatment options are available. The company explained that the EyeQ Wellness Exam is entirely non-invasive and takes under three minutes per patient to conduct.
Various reports have noted that macular degeneration is a condition that generally impacts older people. However, with proper preventative measures, people can ward of AMD even in their old age.
